Century Mile Picks – December 20, 2024

Friday night racing returns to Century Mile with a eight-dash card. A Pick 5 wager starts in the first race while the Pick 4 kicks off in the fifth.

The first race also features a three-year-old filly, Baby Limbo (Captain Crunch) looking to extend her winning streak. She has currently secured five wins in a row all at Century Mile. Baby Limbo is moving up in class and enters the race at 6-1 morning line odds. She will likely need to beat her lifetime mark of 1:58.4 if she wants to beat this field. Mathew Howlett trains Baby Limbo and Jamie Gray is scheduled to be in the bike.

The feature race of the night is the $12,500 Filly & Mare Preferred which takes place in the second race. Stash The Cookies (Sunfire Blue Chip) comes in as the 6-5 morning line favourtie after finishing fourth place last time out. Before that, the eight-year-old mare had won back-to-back appearances in the top class. John Chappell trains the mare and David Kelly will be in charge of the reins.

Goodbye Ceia Later (Vertical Horizon) has won back-to-back races and the most recent was in the Filly & Mare Preferred. She completed the mile in 1:52.3. She has been given 7-2 morning line odds and will come from post position four. The five-year-old mare will be driven by Michael Hennessy and is trained by Christopher Lancaster.
