Century Mile Picks – January 8, 2025

Wednesday night racing debuts at Century Mile this week with a nine-dash card. The Pick 5 wager will still kick off the night in the first race and the Pick 4 wager ends off the card starting in the sixth.

A big battle is brewing in the second race between a pair four-year-old mares that are each on winning streaks. The 6-5 morning line favourite, Baby Limbo (Captain Crunch) has won seven in a row and has put a up a new lifetime mark of 1:56.1 in the process. In 13 lifetime starts, she has punched a ticket to the winner’s circle on eight occasions and has earned $24,934 in prize money. Baby Limbo is in Westie nominated trainer’s Mathew Howlett stable and Westie nominated driver, Phil Giesbrecht will be in the bike.

The other mare looking to continue her winning ways is Trust Me Alot (Trust The Artist). She has won three in a row posted mile of 1:57.1, 1:57.2 and 1:59 in those starts. A performance like her 1:55.4 lifetime mark will likely be needed if she wants to continue her winning streak. Travis Ellis trains Trust Me Alot and Michael Hennessy will be in the sulky.
