The Loop Picks – Sep. 13, 2025

The Loop has another action pack 11-dash card set to go Saturday afternoon. Race 10 and 11 will have WIN wagering only.

Three Things to Know This Saturday

Silk Lace Stake Leg 2 – Race 3

There is only one horse to really talk about in the second leg of the Silk Lace Stake and that is Piper Luna (Im The Pied Piper). She is coming off a win in the first leg by over 19 lengths! The final mile time was 2:00.3 but her best is 1:58.3. Not any filly in the field has even post a sub 2:00 time. Pipers Luna has five wins in six starts and just the lone second place finish was in the Futurity Final. She is in early consideration for Top Manitoba Bred of the Year. I’m telling you! Dean Rey is sitting second in driving wins with nine but this should easily be number ten Lorraine Rey trains this amazing filly!

Golden Boy Stake Leg 2 – Race 5

The boys side is bit more competitive heading into the Golden Boy Stake Leg 2. The 2-1 morning line favourite Van Goghing Fast (Trust The Artist) won the first leg in 2:01. It was his fourth win of the year and his first in sometime. Marc Fillion drives and trains the gelding.

Wednttalkboutbruno (Im The Pied Piper) has three straight third place finishes coming into this race. He has very similar times as the favourite and he draws the rail.

At 4-1, Austins Bud (Whosurboy) could be a live play after finishing second last week. He lone career win was paced in 2:04.2 and he has shown speed that could easily win.

Lastly, Crimsons Case (Spinifinit) makes his debut in the Golden Boy series. He raced in a Maiden last week and finished second place. He too has shown speed that is completive with the other three. This race is truly wide open!

Invitation – Race 9

The Invitation last week was the race of the day by far. Two Shows won by a full second but the rest of the field all come to the wire almost at the same time! With Two Shoes moving up to the Open, this week’s race is another wide open affair. The 2-1 morning line favourite Controlthedistance (Control The Moment) finished second place last week just by a literal nose. Irish Jean (Youshouldseemenow), Supa Fast (In The Irons) and Braxtons Buddy (Toucam Sam) all came to the line at once with Controlthedistance and a photo was needed to figure out the order of finish. Seek And Destroy (Smart Shark) was caught behind the wall of horses by only finished one-fifth of second slower. This race is going to wild!
